Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia

A national holiday, Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, was marked last night in Sarajevo, at a formal reception organized by the embassy of Indonesia in BiH.

Addressing the members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of BiH authorities, culture, banking and public officials, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, Amelia Achmad Yani, said that the 72nd anniversary of Indonesia’s independence is marked by growing ties between Indonesia and Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as with all other countries.

Indonesia is proof that Muslims, Catholics, Protestants, Hindus, Buddhists and Confucianists can live next to each other in harmony, modernism and empowerment of women or as we call it Gotong Royong,” said the Indonesian ambassador at the reception.

With more than 17,000 islands of Indonesia are inhabited by more than 714 ethnic groups. Indonesia is a true model of tolerance and pluralism.
