There are several ice skating locations in Sarajevo with affordable prices or even free of charge skating sessions.
Here are some of the ice rinks that have already been open, and additional ones will be open by the end of 2018 or at the beginning of 2019.
Ice Rink in Outdoor Area in Front of Zetra
The rink measures 40×20 meters and is covered with a prefabricated tent. It includes a dressing room for skaters, a 50-seat arena, a coffee machine with different hot and cold drinks, as well as a sound and light system that creates a unique winter atmosphere. The entrance to the skating rink is in the Zetra Complex next to the car wash, before the entrance to the large Zetra parking lot. Tickets and rentals are available at the entrance to the rink. Ice rink public opening hours are as follows: on Friday from 7:45 pm to 8:45 pm, on Saturday from 12.00 pm to 2:00 pm, 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm, 7:45 pm to 8:45 pm, and on Sunday from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm, and from 7:45 pm to 8:45 pm.
A single session ticket costs BAM 3, whereas skates rental fee is BAM 2. There are also special family and group skating tickets available.
Ice Rink at “Safet Zajko” Center
“Safet Zajko” Education, Sport and Recreation Center’s ambiance and amenities attract a lot of visitors, and its ice rink is now ready to bring the joy of the 2018/2019 winter season to all its visitors. All visitors can skate at the rink every day from 9 am to 10 pm up until mid-February, and if the weather is good enough to allow it, the ice rink winter magic will last even longer. Skates available for rent cost BAM 1.
Ice Rink at Hastahana Park
As part of Coca-Cola Sarajevo Holiday Market which has been opened at Hastahana Park in Marijin dvor neighborhood, an ice rink has also been set up. The market will be open up until mid-January 2019, whereas the ice rink will be open up until mid-February.
The ice rink spans 400 square meters and visitors can use it free of charge thanks to the sponsors and support provided by Center Municipality. Rental skates are available for only BAM 2, and the rink is open every day from 9 am to 10:30 pm. One-hour sessions are available and there is a 30-minute break between sessions which is used to clean the rink and prepare it for the next skating session.
Ice Rink at Zetra
At “Juan Antonio Samaranch – Zetra” Olympic Complex the 2018/2019 ice skating season has begun, and the ice rink will be open up until mid-February! The entrance fee costs BAM 3, skates sharpening costs BAM 4, whereas skates renting costs BAM 4. Skate clothes cost BAM 1.
Throughout the season, figure skating, speed skating and ice hockey schools will be organized at Zetra.
Skating sessions are as follows: 9:00 am – 10:00 am, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm, 1:45 pm – 2:45 pm, 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm, and 7:45 pm – 8:45 pm.
Ice Rink as Part of „Old Town Fairy Tale“ Project
As Part of „Old Town Fairy Tale“ Project at Freedom Square, a large ice rink has been set up and visitors will have the opportunity to use it free of charge. The ice rink was made using an artificial material which is identical with ice both in terms of appearance and characteristics. The ice rink is different because it is not made of ice which means that there is no electricity and water consumption and the rink is not dependent on weather conditions such as high or low temperatures, precipitation etc. Rental skates are available free of charge, and the rink is open every day from 10 am to 10 pm.
Ice Wonderland at Vilsonovo Promenade
For the third year in a town, New Sarajevo Municipality offers all visitors a wide range of activities at Vilsonovo Promenade Open Cultural Center. As part of the “Ice Wonderland”, an ice rink for skaters of all age groups has been set up, and kids can take skating lessons for free. Ice Wonderland is open every day from 10 am to 9 pm up until January 27th 2019.
Glice Ice Rink at Sunnyland
Sunnyland Adventure Park, which is situated on Mount Trebević, has opened the first Glice Ice Rink in B&H providing its visitors a unique sliding feel with a panoramic view of Sarajevo.
Skating on Glice artificial ice skating rink provides a sliding feel identical with that of skating on real ice. Professional athletes also skate on this type of ice rink, and experts recommend it because synthetic ice panels are seamlessly connected and skaters glide over the surface without feeling the joints between the panels. The rink is open to skaters of all age groups from 9 am to 10 pm, and rental skates are available too. Ice rink entrance fee costs BAM 5 and includes skates.
